Competence believes that ethical personal and professional behavior is essential to gaining and maintaining public trust and individual integrity. Even though we are an Italy-based company, our international approach drew us to adopt the principles espoused by the International Public Relations Association (IPRA).

The Code of Ethical Conduct for all Competence's professionals is the following:
  • INTEGRITY - We will act with honesty and integrity at all times so as to secure and retain the confidence of those with whom you come into contact.

  • DIALOGUE - We will seek to establish the moral, cultural and intellectual conditions that foster dialogue and recognize the rights of all parties involved to express their views.
  • TRANSPARENCY - We will be open and transparent in declaring the names, organizations and the interests each colleague and, as appropriate, each client represents.
  • CONFLICT - We will avoid any professional conflicts of interest and you should disclose such conflicts to affected parties if and when they occur.

  • FALSEHOOD - We will make every effort not to intentionally disseminate false or misleading information; you should exercise proper care to avoid unintentional distribution of false or misleading information, and you should take prompt corrective action if such information is disseminated.
  • DECEPTION - We will not obtain information by deceptive or dishonest means.
  • DISCLOSURE - We will not create or use any organization to serve a stated purpose, but which actually serves an undisclosed interest.
  • PROFIT - We will not sell for profit to third parties copies of documents obtained from public authorities.
  • REMUNERATION – While providing professional services, we will not accept any form of payment in connection with those services from anyone other than the principal with whom you are engaged.
  • INDUCEMENT - We will not directly or indirectly offer nor give financial or other consideration to public representatives, the media or other stakeholders.
  • INFLUENCE - We will neither propose nor undertake any action that would constitute an improper influence on public representatives, the media or other stakeholders.
  • COMPETITORS - We will not intentionally injure the professional reputation of another practitioner.
  • POACHING - We will not seek to secure another practitioner’s client by deceptive means.
  • EMPLOYMENT - When employing personnel from public authorities or competitors, we will take care to follow the rules and confidentiality requirements of those organizations.
